Chalk Streams First and the Aquifer Alliance – a discussion about the threats to our chalk streams, and initiatives to save them

May 8 @ 19:00 - 20:30

Chalk Streams First is an initiative which is supported by Wild Trout Trust, the organisation that Rob Mungovan works for. So he is well placed to talk about this radical solution which has been proposed to save the Chilterns’ chalk-streams. The demands placed on the chalk aquifers that supply both rivers and people is a growing problem. The burgeoning population of the south east is competing for water with our unique and paradisiacal rivers known as chalk streams. It needs a revolutionary solution to address the terrible impact of abstraction on the unique ecology of many of our most beautiful and abundant rivers.

In this discussion we will hear about Chalk Streams First and whether it offers any answers to abstraction in the Lark Valley, and whether the Aquifer Alliance that is currently forming to bring together chalk stream groups from across the county can help too.
